Demco Automation participates in Southern Lehigh Middle School STEAM Event

Center Valley, PA – April 29, 2024 – Demco Automation along with other companies and organizations in the region participated in the Southern Lehigh Middle School STEAM Expo providing students, parents, and the general public the opportunity to explore hands-on interactive exhibits and live performances related to STEAM (Science Technology Arts & Math) topics.

Exhibits ranged from art performances and museum exhibits, to universities and regional companies demonstrating or displaying various technologies to students of all ages.  Demco Automaton demonstrated an industrial robot automatically assembling and disassembling components and an operating prototype where participants could automatically unwrap candy.

“It is vital for our community to engage students at an early age to understand not only future career options in STEAM, but show the connection between what they are learning in school and how that knowledge is applied in our world.” said Stephen Maund, President & CEO of Demco Automation. “Events like this one are a great way to show how exciting STEAM careers can be,” Maund continued.

Demco Automation has a regional footprint in educational outreach and engineering & technology-based careers.  On a regular basis they provide K-12 and post secondary students with plant tours, internships, job shadowing, cooperative education, sponsorships, donations, and other initiatives.

Demco Automation Receives Fourth HIRE Vets Award from U.S. Department of Labor

Quakertown, PA – November 08, 2023 – U.S. Acting Secretary of Labor Julie A. Su recognized Demco Automation as one of the 858 recipients of the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Award during a virtual award ceremony presented by U.S. Department of Labor. Demco Automation earned the gold award after applying earlier this year. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

This year, the company is recognized as one of only 23 within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. “For the fourth time, we are honored to receive this award from the U.S. Department of Labor.” says Stephen Maund, President & CEO of Demco Automation. “Our team includes military veterans from multiple branches of the Armed Forces.  Their mission-critical experiences continue to be an asset to our customers and the overall success of our operation in advanced-technology.”

Demco Automation joins 858 other companies from 49 states, plus the District of Columbia, who have shown a commitment to hiring veterans, but also ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service. Recipients of the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages. More than 1,600 employers have earned a HIRE Vets Medallion Award since 2018.

2021 Demco Automation Innovation Award presented to Technical High School Students

Willow Grove PA, June 2, 2021

Demco Automation presented the 2021 “Demco Automation Innovation Award” to two students at EASTERN Center for the Arts & Technology in Willow Grove, PA during the annual Eastern Awards Night held at Upper Moreland High School Stadium.

The award is presented to Robotics & Automated Technology Program students who demonstrate creativity, innovation, planning, and implementation of a lab project.

This year’s award was presented to two students, Kayla Boyle from Lower Moreland High School, and Kyle Neal from Cheltenham High School. They both used their technical skills in the field while working on various lab projects during the 2020-2021 school year.

“Part Demco Automation’s corporate outreach has been to provide awareness of STEM and manufacturing careers to educators, schools, students, and the regional community as a whole. Technical and STEM education is a rewarding career path and is critical to the competitiveness of our nation and region. These awards are one way to inspire technical innovation for our future technicians and Engineers.” stated Stephen Maund, President & CEO of Demco Automation.

The Innovation Award is funded by Demco Automation through the EASTERN Foundation, who’s purpose is to encourage students in their pursuit of career ambitions that were developed and strengthened by attending EASTERN.

Demco Automation featured in ASSEMBLY Magazine’s inaugural Medical Device E-Book

February 16, 2021 – Demco Automation is featured in ASSEMBLY Magazine’s inaugural e-book focusing on medical device assembly. With an introduction from John Sprovieri, Chief Editor, the e-book provides valuable information on real-world highlights of medical device automation projects, medical device manufacturing, capital spending, and the outlook of industrial automation.

Sprovieri states that “…North America remains the single largest market for medical devices, accounting for some 39 percent of global sales.”

Demco Automation describes how the use multiple industrial robots provide flexibility and multitasking within a 24-station system developed by the company to produce an actuation device for surgical instruments. Additionally, teamwork and collaboration with the customer was the formula for meeting program objectives.
