2021 Demco Automation Innovation Award Presented To Technical High School Students

Demco Automation presented the 2021 “Demco Automation Innovation Award” to two students at EASTERN Center for the Arts & Technology in Willow Grove, PA during the annual Eastern Awards Night held at Upper Moreland High School Stadium.

The award is presented to Robotics & Automated Technology Program students who demonstrate creativity, innovation, planning, and implementation of a lab project.

This year’s award was presented to two students, Kayla Boyle from Lower Moreland High School, and Kyle Neal from Cheltenham High School. They both used their technical skills in the field while working on various lab projects during the 2020-2021 school year.

“Part Demco Automation’s corporate outreach has been to provide awareness of STEM and manufacturing careers to educators, schools, students, and the regional community as a whole. Technical and STEM education is a rewarding career path and is critical to the competitiveness of our nation and region. These awards are one way to inspire technical innovation for our future technicians and Engineers.” stated Stephen Maund, President & CEO of Demco Automation.

The Innovation Award is funded by Demco Automation through the EASTERN Foundation, who’s purpose is to encourage students in their pursuit of career ambitions that were developed and strengthened by attending EASTERN.

With an introduction from John Sprovieri, Chief Editor, the e-book provides valuable information on real-world highlights of medical device automation projects, medical device manufacturing, capital spending, and the outlook of industrial automation.

Sprovieri states that “…North America remains the single largest market for medical devices, accounting for some 39 percent of global sales.”

Demco Automation describes how the use multiple industrial robots provide flexibility and multitasking within a 24-station system developed by the company to produce an actuation device for surgical instruments. Additionally, teamwork and collaboration with the customer was the formula for meeting program objectives.

Demco Automation & Local Middle School work together on Manufacturing Video Challenge

Demco Automation & Local Middle School Work Together On Manufacturing Video Challenge

February 20, 2019 – Demco Automation is working with Quakertown School District’s Strayer Middle School during Engineers Week to create a video for a contest in the called “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing” (WSCM). Sixteen regions within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as well as other states in the country participate in this program designed for teams of 7th and 8th graders from local middle schools to make videos about what companies do every day. The intent of the program is to convey career awareness and excitement in manufacturing and technology sectors with an objective of changing students’ perceptions about manufacturing careers.

The Greater Philadelphia Region contest is produced by the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC) with 30 middle schools participating. The general public can participate in selecting the best video by voting for your favorite in the “Viewers Choice Vote” occurring from Wednesday, March 20 through Friday, March 22, 2019. An Awards Ceremony is being held on Monday, April 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, Oaks, PA.

The Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) developed the program and it has spread across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania over the past five years. The program is funded in part by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development’s Training-to-Career grant, part of Governor Tom Wolf’s Manufacturing PA initiative.
