Demco products can be used in a wide variety of manufacturing applications. The following applications demonstrate our versatility.

An emerging Telecom firm had secured a significant long-term contract and was challenged with meeting production demand. Each system was required to process 5 different products from the product family. Additionally, since the customer had little exposure to automation equipment, Demco Automation partnered with them to develop a low risk scalable automation strategy. All processes were currently being done with manual labor.
In order to understand the current assembly process and assembly nuances the operators were experiencing, Demco Automation and the customer identified several key steps in the process that were causing particular pain in the operation. Wedge Station Bench Top Units were developed for these operations first, while concurrently manufacturing 16 base chassis back in our production facility. By implementing the Wedge Stations with Operator interaction first, improvements to the process were realized in a very short time period. Additionally, part conformance issues were evaluated before a fully automated process was introduced. In parallel, the customer worked diligently with their suppliers to bring the components within specification.
In the final phase, 16 Base Machines were delivered to the customer with the balance of Wedge Stations required to complete the assembly process. During the installation of the systems, the existing bench top units were reused by plugging them into the Base Machine. This approach minimized project risk, provided immediate benefits to production by the implementation of bench top stations first, and realized a shorter ROI by reusing stations in the sully automated version of the process.

The customer's requirements were to develop a complete assembly line to fully assemble and inspect a wall mount switch, consisting of over 40 separate operations. The equipment needed to be flexible enough to accommodate ongoing design changes as well as assemble new products being developed in the product category. The customer also wanted to have some operator intervention at several of the stations. Demco utilized both rotary dial and in-line chassis from its Assembly Line product family and tied the entire system together with a Bosch power-and-free pallet system.
The result was a robust assembly line that met cycle time, exceeded yield requirements, and was delivered in less than 26 weeks. The line was installed in two days, debugged in the third day, and completely operational assembling product on the fourth day.
Since its initial installation, the customer has integrated an additional wedge chassis to eliminate three operators. This same unit was installed on a non-Demco line installed several years earlier to accomplish the same goals. Additionally, complete new products within the switch family have been successfully introduced and assembled on the line by adding several new Wedge stations and through re-arranging of some existing Wedge stations.

A leading material handling company required the build of a Kitting Cell base frame with a delivery requirement of 6 weeks. The system was originally designed and manufactured in Europe and required design changes to accommodate domestic materials and components, as well as a fast track fabrication and build sequence to meet delivery. Demco Automation provided project management and design services to meet project objectives, as well as providing internal and supplier-based fabrication services to complete the project successfully.
Automation Platform to Major Medical Device Manufacturer

This manufacturer of catheters and syringes had complete in-house capability for building automation equipment. Their challenge was to build equipment that was more cost effective, on time, and met the company's mandate to build equipment that was more flexible and modular to meet design changes.
Demco provided the ideal solution with our AD-16 Full Automatic 16 station rotary dial chassis. The AD-16 comes complete with controls architecture, power/air/electrical distribution, and is ready for plug-in Wedge station modules.
While Demco was preparing the Wedge base chassis, the customer was designing and building tooling on the blank Wedge stations that Demco supplied 2 days ARO. The Wedge base chassis was delivered in five (5) weeks and the company was operational in 12 weeks. This cut nearly 14 weeks out of their average time to get equipment productive, saving them thousands of dollars.
